updated today July 05, 2008. Modern burners to SAVE OIL in your Aga ( oil ,gas versions only at present) Rayburn Oil and Gas OF7, OF22,G7 and G33
latest NEWS! Huge demand for our burners is putting strain on the capability of our manufacturers to cope with demand. If you wish to order a Snugburner please note that delivery may be 4 weeks at present as they start extra shifts/ take on new staff. We are glad this has happened in the "quiet time" before the frantic Autumn rush! News to suit the AGA owner ( Rayburn users please scroll down) The Sunday Times had a VERY GOOD article on the Greeness of the Aga - plus mentioned our Snugburner, only getting the price wrong! Read all about it at http://property.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/property/interiors/article3721176.ece Bio Diesel - We have sent burner going to TASMANIA -its going to run on POPPY SEED OIL! Another to BRISTOL this month to run on Bio. Ask for more information if you are a user or manufacturer of Bio - not vague enquires about chip oil please! This cream one (formerly gas) is now running on bio 100 at Dundry. Its on a POWERFLUE - no chimney , no Planning needed.
Sales are buoyant as the public realise that the ONLY answer to the Oil Price Crisis is to TURN OFF the Aga and not use it- or convert to the Snugburner. Rayburn owners are less lucky-they can't just use a microwave as the OF22 does the water and rads as well. Lucky we have the ANSWER! We now have a SHOW TRAILER which will be used to display a working RAYBURN with fitted Snugburner, flue'd using a Powerflue and it will be run at shows on RED DIESEL .It will be ready for shows hopefully by the end of July - meanwhile its being fitted out. If an installer wants it for a local show please get in touch! latest TEST results. Ian, our approved
installer in FROME, SOMERSET has a working Aga in his house on a OIL FLOW METER.
He will be pleased to show it to you but oil consumption is working out less
than 5.0 litres a day running 24/7 - so that's 3 litres a day saving on a wick
burner = £1.65 a day = £11.55 a week or £600 a year. You may save more by
shutting OFF from say 11pm-7am - that's 8 hours a day or a THIRD less! This morning I timed by Aga that had been
left on 24/7. From 6.45 to 7.45 it fired for just 18 minutes to maintain the
oven heat selected- see oil consumption -comparing wick to Snugburner - figures on the Aga page! Our burner FITTED will cost you £1800 (approximately dependant on local engineers rates) and it's done in a day! Isn't it time to reduce that cost? Do you really need it burning oil whilst you are ASLEEP? More installers needed to help cut oil bills and have happy customers! My own Aga - It's the blue 2 oven model GC - that was gas fired. Mine starts up at 4.30 am so my nurse wife can have toast and coffee at 6am .Then its off after 8.30 and on again mid afternoon to cook dinner at 6.30 to 7 pm, then off at 8.30. My oil consumption is carefully being monitored as well! I am using 5.5 litres a day = £7 a week less than the minimum a wick burner uses!
Mine on the left-originally Gas - the Green is a Pre 74 originally solid fuel now in Liskeard, Cornwall - the Silver Ghost in Daventry We have a large number of installed cookers nationwide - see our TRADE section for addresses . Noise. The ONLY drawback with any
pressure jet burner is operating noise. I f you fire a spark into a combustible
mix you get an ignition and it makes a sound. On oil boilers this can be
damped down by acoustic insulation inside the case - we haven't room for
that in the Aga! We can totally confuse you with figures if you wish- a report from CRE where our burners passed their safety & efficiency tests can be e mailed to you but look at it this way .We are happy to give our the password etc to download technical information to prospective clients/installers. If you run our burner that's 88% efficient for 8 hours a day you WILL save a lot of oil compared to a wick burner on 24/7 at 55% efficiency (if you can get good oil!) NEW PRODUCT .We are developing a BOLT ON oil Snugburner to fit the SOLID FUEL STANDARD and DELUXE Agas made from 1941 on .It will protrude about 80mm on past the front and be mostly hidden by a deluxe door which will be part of the kit -either colour matched to your Aga front or a cheaper option in black. No prices yet but we are looking for guinea pig installations in the SW - ideally Somerset or Wilts area. The ideal cooker ,originally solid fuel, will have been converted to a wick burner WITHOUT being stripped down so we can evaluate performance before and after fitting the Snugburner. You will need a power point nearby, a gravity fed oil tank and a wish to SLASH your oil bill! mock up - it wont look too far from this ( hopefully your Aga is cleaner!) - we can supply a new door for small door Standard models .Mail for updates and maybe an offer to be a Guinea Pig for development of you live in M4/M5 corridor or between those boundaries. We aim this to fit the ORIGINALLY solid fuel Standard and Deluxe Aga that's probably been converted to oil with a DON or OILWARM wick burner
News for Rayburn Users - if yours is an OF7 or OF22 I recently converted a Rayburn OF22.in Chillbolton near Andover From COLD a pint of water boiled in 15 minutes. Once the cooker had been run for 30 minutes we put another pint on to boil- this time 4 minutes! Start to finish the whole job was done in less than 5 hours With the SUMMER BAFFLE fitted the cooker ran for nearly an hour before switching off on its stat - giving a 400oF oven heat and a tank of hot water and 3 upstairs rads were warm - all on gravity circulation( pump deliberately left off) Prices? See our section marked Frequently Asked Questions - FAQs on left! First OF22 conversion now installed near Larne in Northern Ireland and Snugburners are available from our agents H&F Conversions in Cashel in Eire . Mail for installers details Graham Lake, my Technical Director, can be called if you need info , but it's all on this website for TRADE Engineers We can offer you Rayburn cookers with a fitted Snugburner , via www.tradccokers.com from only £2200. RH oven OF22,many WHITE (both hands) , Letter from a Customer with OF22 " Just a quick letter to let you know how we are getting on with the Snugburner. For someone like myself of average handyman ability (!) the installation was very straight forward. I took my time to ensure everything was in line with the instructions provided. Despite this the whole job took no more than 4 hours. With everything in place Graham visited to do the final commissioning of the burner. Once this was done we fired her up and after approx 45 mins all 6 rads were too hot to touch! Big difference to the previous wick burner. In fact we switched to the smaller nozzle to reduce consumption even more. There is still plenty of heat to keep the cottage warm, cook the tea and ample hot water.
All in all a total success.
Thanks again for all your help.
Warm(!) regards, Nick Mould (Sandbach, Cheshire)"
Time for you to convert your OF22? See other customers comments under OF22 section. Summer setting on OF22's.We now supply a baffle plate which really cuts down the boiler heat input on the OF22 Rayburn - so your Snugburner will cook nicely and heat hot water without boiling the house! More details on request - but fitted in minutes by yourself Very excited! the 4 oven Aga on Bio diesel at Radstock. The Testo combustion meter read 86% efficiency ,with the other readings I wont bore you with! So we can "go to the Ball,Cinderella!"
another in an OF22 is fitted about 1 mile from my workshop in St Mary Bourne - heating a 4 rad system and cooking in a mid terrace house. So far customer Mike has one complaint - house too hot! We are going to baffle down boiler output - an easy job - to help him! Specially designed Oil pressure jet burners to fit the AGA deluxe - Rayburn OF7/ 208K and Rayburn OF22/ G33 etc .Not others, yet I am running down my own stock of Agas so I can concentrate on Trade and Retail sales of Snugburners, however a friend here in Newbury has allowed me to sell on his behalf the following cooker Aga Deluxe in British Racing Green , 2 oven, unmarked original enamel Aga Deluxe in CREAM 2 oven, unmarked original enamel Aga Deluxe in WHITE 2 oven, unmarked original enamel Prices for ANY one of them with fitted Snugburner would be around £4500 (2 oven) inc building by OFTEC engineer Rayburn OF22. We are having made a
slight modification to our burner metal work, to make installation easier for
YOU! Instead of having to position the main ceramic baffle from above ,fitting
will be done through the front. This will give a more positive seal around the
burner base plate and allow a cheaper service .
Claret Of22 near Pulborough,Sussex.blue near Tulle in France Rayburn OF7 . The design on this remains the same .The burner is still controlled by the oven heat and from COLD the cooker will boil a litre of COLD water in under 15 minutes!
This green gas G7 (or 200 or 209G) will also convert to a Snugburner - the body is the same and the burner fits easily -convert from GAS to OIL! Selling for less than £2000. Aga. Working well with a longer PE cell now being fitted (it slides in but you need to move the burner forward off its mounting plate to fit)) .We have changed the oil line connection (6mm bundy inlet) which was a swine to fit and now supply a clear bowl filter (where appropriate) so you can see the oil quality! Performance SO much better than the original designed wick burner - with stir fries on the hotspot as its 100 degrees hotter than standard! We continue to refine this burner - now working in 5 countries- to make it easier to service and operate.
Our burner can fit all deluxes although the originally coal fired and early oil versions need modding- see that section and blue one above All Snugburner cookers can now benefit from a FANNED FLUE. We
have found over the past 2 years that we cannot rely on our small fan to blow
away the spent gases so if you want a low flue (i.e. not above ridge level) we have
teamed up with a manufacturer of Flue fans to fit an unobtrusive stainless box
with adjustable draw that sits outside the house . Its also used as a failsafe-
fan stops and the cooker shuts off - giving you even more safety built in ! No
chance of fumes in the kitchen and works whatever the wind strength or
direction. Less than £500 for a chimney! . Bio Diesel. We are currently running a Rayburn OF7 on Bio 100 and Graham will be writing a report (which can be downloaded on request) concerning results. We have found significantly different performance on various TYPES of bio - as the calorific value of each type varies - so if you want to use this fuel its not just a case of "bunging it in" - it needs as much refining as usual diesel so old chip fat may work well but needs converting properly! Currently BIO DIESEL is £1.05 p a litre for home use ( same tax now as a car) see our supplier www.biosulis.co.uk for more information. If you are worried about the RUNNING COSTS of the Rayburn or Aga range you need to talk to US! I can tell you what our customers find, or you can e mail Graham Lake my Technical Director on all BOFFIN matters .He can be found on 01823-660998 office hours or mobile 07841 820058 Aga Trade PEOPLE! I have to stop supplying Agas myself , passing on the sales to suitable companies who can offer a good cooker , as I have insufficient time to devote to that, plus our spares company www.agafixspares.com and developing our trade sales of the Snugburner. If you would like to discuss us selling your Agas, with our burners , with you installing PLEASE contact me so we can discuss it. Too may jobs-too little time! His converted Royal G33 (same body as the OF22 but slightly bigger boiler) is heating 8 rads, hot water and cooks a mean roast beef - thanks again! only 2 rads and hot water on OF22 fitted in North Devon. We had to baffle down the boiler as the rads would have been jumping off the wall! This is the 2nd conversion using a Snugburner for this client, first her house then a tenanted one! OF22 in Wales Now heating an 8 rad heating system in a detached stone cottage and within 20 minutes of firing up the lady said" that rad has NEVER been that hot before! Now read how we can improve YOUR cooker. Some History .The
oil fired Rayburn cooker (OF7 Royal and Regent) and the Oil fired Aga were sold
from the late 60’s .Although the method of controlling burning changed over the
years the fundamental design has remained consistent since the earliest days .A
circular burner ( rectangular in the OF22) is flooded with oil to a certain
depth, lit with a match, and then the flow controlled to give a constant burn.
The burning system is almost silent and relies on a chimney draw to pull away
the fumes. The oil burn is not particularly efficient and as it burns a carbon
residue forms in the hot oil ways into the burner- which causes a reduction in
the flow rate and heat output. Eventually, if not cleaned out, the fire will go
out, and although unlikely this can cause an oil seepage into the cooker
resulting in an “oil flooded cooker”. Whilst the OF7,
OF22 and Aga models OC,OCB and OE were all designs modified from the original
solid fuel castings they benefit from the heavy construction and are never
“bothered” by the heat output of the oil fuel . The
Pressure Jet Burner
is fundamentally different from the vaporizing burner. As fitted in 99% of
central heating boilers, it’s fully controlled, usually by a boiler thermostat,
and switches off automatically when the stat is “satisfied". Operation is
automatic- an electric fan blows in a metered amount of air, which passes
over an oil nozzle which ejects a carefully controlled flow of atomized oil, in
a pre-determined spray pattern .The pressurized oil flow is controlled by a
solenoid valve, which remains open when a flame sensing device tells it to- via
a control box .Ignition is automatic, a spark generator transforms the current
to high voltage to ignite the oil flow. They can run 24 volt or t110 volt and
even 24 volt systems -useful
on boats This system relies on electricity to work but is fundamentally more efficient than the vaporizing system and therefore MUCH cheaper to run.
the circular shells of the wick burner -compared to our Snugburner! 1940's technology vs 2004! Why this is Better for You ?
